FRAME CONTEMPORARY ART FINLAND
TRAVEL GRANT FOR FOREIGN ART EXPERTS FOR TRAVELLING TO FINLAND
CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021 – 2022
Frame Contemporary Art Finland is an advocate for Finnish contemporary art. It supports international initiatives, facilitates professional partnerships, and encourages critical development of the field. Frame coordinates Finland’s participation in the Venice Biennale. The institution is calling for international applicants to promote and support Finnish visual arts in the following fields of contemporary art: fine art, photographic art, media art, art handicraft, comics art, performance art and sound art.
Frame awards two types of grants: a travel grant that can be applied for at any time, and a project grant that has two application periods per year. The travel grant is intended for artists, art experts and workgroups. The project grant is intended for organisations for international exhibitions and art fairs. In addition, artists and organisations can apply for a project grant for international art publications.
The purpose of the travel grant is to promote the international mobility and networking of art experts in order to promote the opportunities of Finnish art and artists for international interaction and the exhibition of Finnish art internationally. The purpose of grants awarded by Frame is based on the strategy of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and Frame’s own strategy.
The travel grant will only be applied to cover personal:
• Travel expenses
• Accommodation expenses
The project grant will only be applied to cover:
• Printing expenses
• Writer fees
• Translation fees
Applicants should have a portfolio and biography prepared for submission.
The deadline is 30 April 2021 with a second call on 31 August, 2021 for the travel grants and between 1 March to 31 March 2021 for the application periods for project grants.
