Artwork of the Week: 'Blessed Redeemer' (2018) by John Cox

Today we highlight 'Blessed Redeemer' by John Cox, a wearable sculpture currently on display in our current exhibition, pARTicipate!.

The sculpture is named after the exultation Cox's mother used as a form of sigh. A touch stone to this mother, Cox says the work can transform the wearer into a kind of super hero: it's long, undulating structure mimics wings when perched on the shoulders. 'Blessed Redeemer' is also inspired by the towering costumes that we wear during Junkanoo.
