Allan Wallace recounts his
experience visiting the Sistine Chapel with Global Discovery Program, 2016
Walking towards the
door of Sistine Chapel felt like the end of a book for me. A new one began when
I finally laid eyes on my greatest human inspiration in art. My heart was
beating though my chest. It was so loud that my tour guide touched my arm and
asked if I was OK. I wasn't OK. I could hear my late grandfather saying
to me with a smile.."You made it Chino"

Walking towards the door of Sistine Chapel felt like the end of a book for me. A new one began when I finally laid eyes on my greatest human inspiration in art. My heart was beating though my chest. It was so loud that my tour guide touched my arm and asked if I was OK. I wasn't OK. I could hear my late grandfather saying to me with a smile "You made it Chino".
I remember him waking
me up at 5am telling me when the
great masters of art was on A&E. I also remember him standing over me at
the age of 6 telling my mom that I draw from the Holy Bible like
Michelangelo.
All of the books I've
read; the movies or lessons about my favorite artist did not prepare my 37 year
old mind for what I saw. I saw "The Hand Of God"; I saw purpose; I
saw my pure mastery face to face.
The D'Aguilar Art Foundation's Global
Discovery Program made this happen for me. I am very thankful and eternally
grateful for such an opportunity. It was a need for me to be re-inspired but it
was also an appointment with destiny. I can't wait to share with the world all
that I have been given.
